Description Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to support the efficient production of agricultural farm equipment. This role focuses on optimizing production methods, improving product quality, reducing costs, and ensuring safe, reliable operations across fabrication, machining, painting and assembly processes. Principle Duties and Areas of Responsibility: Process Development & Improvement Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes for agricultural equipment components and assemblies. Evaluate production workflows to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, reduced waste, and improved throughput. Implement lean manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, etc.). Analyze process data and use metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives. Production Support Provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing operations including welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly. Troubleshoot production issues related to equipment, tooling, and process variability. Develop and maintain standard work instructions and process documentation. Collaborate closely with production supervisors to meet schedule, quality, and cost targets. Tooling, Equipment & Layout Collaborate with others on team for tooling, fixtures, and equipment to support manufacturing operations. Participate in plant layout planning and workflow optimization. Support capital equipment justification, specification, and implementation. Ensure equipment is used efficiently and maintained properly. Quality & Compliance Work with Quality team to resolve nonconformances and implement corrective actions. Ensure processes meet product specifications and regulatory requirements. Participate in root cause analysis using tools such as 8D, Fishbone, or 5 Whys. Drive process capability improvements and support PPAP activities when applicable. New Product Introduction (NPI) Support design for manufacturability (DFM) efforts during product development. Lead or participate in new product launches, including process validation and ramp-up. Develop manufacturing routings, BOMs, and labor standards. Coordinate trials and pilot builds. Cost Reduction Identify and execute cost reduction projects related to materials, labor, and process efficiency. Evaluate make vs. buy decisions and supplier capabilities. Reduce scrap, rework, and downtime. Requirements Qualifications: Education Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience 3–5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (agricultural equipment, heavy equipment, or similar preferred). Experience with fabrication, welding, machining, paint and/or assembly processes. Strong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Technical Skills Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CREO) preferred. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing documentation (Epicor preferred). Knowledge of GD&T, process capability, and statistical methods. Understanding of MIG welding processes (Manual & Robotic) is a plus. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Hands-on approach with a focus on practical solutions.
