Description

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Ashland, VA. This role supports the design and production teams in the release of new designs to production and in ongoing manufacturing operations for established designs. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a solid engineering background, and a passion for improving manufacturing processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in an ISO9001 controlled production environment (AS9100 preferred).
  • Working knowledge of 3D and 2D CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawing creation and interpretation.
  • Experience in mechanical system design.
  • Experience using basic machining equipment (mill, lathe).
  • Familiarity with ERP software such as SYSPRO or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sintering, heat treatments, and passivation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Support design and production teams in the release of new designs to production and in ongoing operations for established designs.
  • Create detailed bills of materials and manufacturing instructions in accordance with design documentation.
  • Write detailed manufacturing process specifications and build procedures.
  • Assist production through equipment repair, maintenance, and upgrades.
  • Design tooling and fixtures to enhance efficiency and first-pass yield.
  • Generate and validate machine programs.
  • Devise, detail, and implement production process improvements to increase capacity and efficiency.
  • Specify and justify capital investment in new production equipment.
  • Manage the commissioning of new production equipment, including machine validation and production of specific user instructions.
  • Provide input for design for manufacturing, including advice on manufacturing methods and process failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
  • Aid in production readiness assessments to ensure successful production efforts for new and revised designs.
  • Assist in the commissioning of new manufacturing lines as required.
  • Support tooling life and configuration control.
