Description:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficient in J.I.T., Continuous Flow Manufacturing, Kanban, and other techniques.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different organizational levels.
  • Skilled in coordinating multiple activities within cross-functional teams to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in computer software, data entry, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays if needed.
  • Experience with CAD systems and basic knowledge of CAM systems and robotic manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems and steel fabrication, welding, and industrial equipment assembly.
  • Practical knowledge of lean principles to reduce waste.
  • Preferred organizational, leadership, and computer skills.
  • Proficient in project management, including developing plans, timelines, budgets, layouts, resource requirements, and ROI calculation.
  • Solid understanding of tooling, fixtures, dimensional accuracy, and quality in manufacturing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • 2-5+ years’ experience in a discrete manufacturing environment
  • Experience in tooling/ fixture design in a 3D modeling software
  • Experience using various LEAN manufacturing techniques for process improvement
  • Background and experience in a production GMAW welding environment.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must pass a criminal background check (7-year felony + sex offender)
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test (10 panels for recreational drugs and opiates)
  • Applicants for employment must be U.S. Citizens or national, U.S. permanent residents (i.e., current Green Card holders), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on safety in all aspects of the job and company meetings.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing techniques (J.I.T., Continuous Flow, Kanban, etc.) to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Develop and implement manufacturing systems and procedures to enhance processes.
  • Train supervisors and support personnel on new production processes to reduce costs and lead times.
  • Provide technical support and training for equipment and maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure finished goods quality through technical support and training for manufacturing personnel.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing labor standards to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Review routings and update documentation for manufacturing processes.
  • Evaluate operating costs and recommend improvements for budget compliance.
  • Recommend plant layout changes to improve space utilization, material flow, and safety.
  • Develop short- and long-term manufacturing strategies, including capital investments.
  • Evaluate, justify, and install new equipment and tooling to enhance processes.
  • Develop maintenance strategies to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Drive future state of company goals through strategic planning and execution.
  • Participate in product development to ensure compliance with manufacturing strategies and quality objectives.
  • Use Lean principles to design and implement new manufacturing processes and layouts.
  • Support and train employees in continuous improvement sessions (kaizen).
  • Monitor manufacturing labor costs and schedule attainment to ensure cost-effective production.
  • Design and modify jigs, fixtures, and tooling to improve manufacturing methods and quality.
  • Maintain expertise in Brake press, Laser machines, welding, and other manufacturing methods.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.
