Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Here at Vertical Aerospace, we are on a journey to deliver our 1st aircraft into service by 2028, this requires us to develop our battery to be produced in-house. To achieve this, we need to develop our existing team and add to the skill set we have.
We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team, focusing on the development of manufacturing processes, creating equipment specs and commissioning of equipment.
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, apprenticeship or role experience instead of a degree will also be considered.
- 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing enviroment.
- Knowledge of Design of experiments, Process capability (CPK), and statistical process control (SPC).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with battery pack manufacturing or assembly.
- Familiarity with aviation certification standards.
- Proficiency in CAD software and PLM systems.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing manufacturing processes e.g. adhesives, laser welding, automation, defining solutions for components and assembly handling in the assembly of our battery pack. The main responsibility is to deliver solutions for holding, transporting and fixture design for components, assemblies and sub-assemblies. The main responsibilities are –
- Develop manufacturing processes for the assembly of batteries
- Own and conduct the design of experiments of these processes to characterise them for development builds and production rate
- Write specifications for manufacturing equipment for both development and production.
- Commission equipment as well as complete Factory and site acceptance tests,
- Use statistical tools, such as Six Sigma, to criticise a process and to understand it’s capability.
- Ensure any equipment they procure complies with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Write technical reports, present and report out regularly on their work
