JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team at Upstate Door. This role is essential in bridging the gap between design and production by transforming custom door designs into precise and efficient manufacturing instructions. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about improving manufacturing processes in a custom, high-end wood product setting.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required; 3D a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, lookups; macros a plus).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Strong time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with both technical and non-technical team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with CNC programming, especially in a woodworking or millwork setting.
  • Prior experience in woodworking, cabinetry, or custom millwork.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or custom woodwork environment.
Responsibilities
  • Generate detailed cutlists and bill of materials from order specifications and architectural/shop drawings.
  • Create, review, and modify CNC programs for woodworking machinery (e.g., routers, saws, boring machines).
  • Interpret and work with AutoCAD drawings, ensuring accurate translation of customer and architectural specifications.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Project Management, and Production teams to clarify job requirements, address technical challenges, and ensure production feasibility.
  • Maintain and update product templates, CNC standards, and engineering documentation to reflect continuous improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and refine manufacturing processes to enhance accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
  • Participate in the implementation of new equipment or processes, including testing and validation.
  • Provide engineering support for custom and non-standard product requests.
