MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

The Manufacturing Engineer leads the development and optimization of manufacturing processes for new and existing programs. This role drives continuous improvements in efficiency, quality, and scalability through process design, robotics, automation, and advanced inspection technologies. Responsibilities include managing APQP activities, engineering changes, tooling design, and cross-functional collaboration to support production readiness, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of new manufacturing programs from purchase order through production ramp-up, ensuring alignment with quality, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Develop and manage detailed project timelines, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies using APQP and program management methodologies.
  • Approve and transition new projects to full-scale production, ensuring readiness across operations, quality, and supply chain.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Kaizen methodologies to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance product quality.
  • Conduct time studies, work method analyses, and ergonomic assessments to optimize labor and equipment utilization.
  • Analyze production data daily to identify trends, root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Lead the evaluation, selection, and integration of robotics, automation systems, and advanced inspection technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency, precision, and scalability.
  • Own the design and development of manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment, ensuring alignment with product requirements, safety standards, and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with tooling and equipment suppliers to design and implement innovative solutions that enhance OEE and reduce downtime.
  • Support sustainability initiatives by identifying opportunities for energy reduction, material efficiency, and environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.
  • Develop and maintain clear, concise work instructions and technical documentation for operators and engineering staff.
  • Create preventive maintenance plans and training materials for new and existing equipment and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards and industry regulations (e.g., IATF).
  • Partner with R&D, Commercial, and Quality teams to support product development, CAD modeling, and manufacturability assessments.
  • Coordinate product and process changes driven by internal improvements or customer requirements.
  • Lead or participate in 8D problem-solving teams and cross-functional task forces.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of tube bending, welding, end forming, assembly, cutting, and machining processes.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven experience in project management and engineering change control.
  • In-depth understanding of manufacturing technologies including metal stamping, tooling, welding, assembly techniques, FMEA, machine design, control systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, including vendors and customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities under time pressure.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development (minimum 40 hours annually outside regular work hours).

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
