EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • B.S. Degree in Engineering with emphasis in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or agricultural.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Engineer in Training (EIT) in good standing with a Canadian engineering association.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous working experience and knowledge of an MRP or ERP.
  • An understanding of materials, tooling, machine tools, and/or manufacturing processes
  • Experience participating and leading Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Multi-functional experience (Quality, Materials, Engineering, Human Resources, Safety, Operations).
  • Experience using lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Knowledge and experience in Access, Project software, Auto Cad, and Pro.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation of lean manufacturing and the ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

As part of the Manufacturing Engineering team this position is responsible for improving manufacturing efficiency, cost, product quality, and worker safety by analyzing current methods, new methods, new technologies and cost reduction activities in selected areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, designs and plans equipment and machine layouts, workflow, and safety precautions to improve utilization of plant and manufacturing facilities.
  • Evaluates worker efficiency and recommends improvements to increase efficiency and operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and promote cost control/reductions.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects impacting safety, quality, efficiency, and cost improvements.
  • Works with operators, vendors, and tool designers to develop tooling designs and actual tools within provided quality and cost constraints. When assigned they are also responsible for implementing the tooling with the operators.
  • Accumulates, develop, and uses data for purposes of establishing labor standards on process data, including attaching routings in workflow, and establishing costs of engineering changes and introductions.
  • Analyzes information and prepares reports for management review in such areas as capital budgets and capital acquisition requests.
  • Supports the install of new systems and capital equipment on time, within cost constraints, established procedures and the production forecast.
  • Assists the plant in all areas related to quality documentation and/or ISO compliance where applicable.
  • Analyzes documents and provides recommendations for individual part or process failures from a technical and operations standpoint.
