Summary We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Intern for a 10-week summer internship supporting critical continuous improvement and new product introduction efforts. This role offers the opportunity to co-lead a Kaizen event on a high-volume production line and play a key role in launching a new manufacturing line. This internship is ideal for someone eager to get out on the production floor and provides real-world experience in Lean principles, process optimization, and cross-functional problem solving beyond typical intern-level exposure. Responsibilities * Implement Lean initiatives to improve operational efficiency, 5S, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. * Conduct value stream mapping, root cause analysis, and co-lead a Kaizen workshop to identify and implement process improvements on one of our high volume production lines. * Perform time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity assessments. * Assist in creating or updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. * Support manufacturing engineers with process development, optimization, and documentation. * Work with cross functional teams to support new product introduction (NPI) activities. * Participate in the design, testing, and implementation of fixtures, tools, and process aids. * Support efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost through engineering solutions. Required Qualifications * Currently pursuing a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field. * College student entering their Junior or Senior year in the fall. * Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principals (5S, line balancing, Kaizen, DMAIC, value stream mapping, etc.) * Basic understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, assembly, automation, injection molding, stamping, etc.). * Understanding of root cause analysis methods (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.). * Capable of data analysis, basic statistics, and Excel. * Strong problem-solving mindset. * Ability to communicate clearly with cross functional teams. * Willingness to work on the production floor and learn hands-on. Preferred Qualifications * Prior co-op/internship in manufacturing. * Prior use of Lean, Six Sigma, or process improvement tools in a production environment. Location: This position is located in Longmont, CO. Base Compensation: $20 - $23 is the hourly wage this role, depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
