Description Electric Machinery Company, a division of WEG Electric Corp. Minneapolis, Minnesota Positions: Manufacturing Engineer Intern Departments: Engineering Department Primary Objective of the Position: The intern is to provide assistance and support the Manufacturing Engineering department and production floor in the manufacture, assembly and related supporting processes for motors, generators and magnetic drives. Works closely with employees of all levels in the organization to promote a safe working environment and reduce work related injuries and accidents. Also, the intern will be responsible for collaboration and sharing of best practices within our company. Major Areas of Accountability: Must be an enthusiastic self-starter, able to organize and pursue broad objectives. Strong people skills and the ability to manage multiple, changing priorities. Support and implement process improvements which enhance the company’s responsiveness and profitability. Work under the direction of department lead/staff to conduct research projects, process designs and project documentation and any additional assigned duties. Provides support to production department on inquiries to assure technical and economic feasibility. Possibly assist with troubleshooting and repair. Receive direction from department staff and other support personnel as required to successfully complete projects. Demonstrated ability to understand, evaluate, and solve complex issues of technical content with guidance and technical support. Review Work Instructions to determine which instructions need to be revised or new procedures written to ensure a quality product is produced in a timely, efficient and safe manner. Must adhere to and support the Electric Machinery Quality Systems. Work with employees, supervisors and management in performing accident/incident investigations, analyzing results and providing recommendations or required changes to current processes. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Current enrollment and pursuit of a BS degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on production/operations. Pursuant towards 2 year technical college or 4 year college pre-engineering degree. Demonstrated problem solving skills Computer literate, with knowledge of current operating systems and software common to business applications (i.e. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project). Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing both internally & with customers Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities. This requires climbing stairs and moving over, around, and about shop machinery. Have the Physical ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
