Description The Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Sheet Extrusion leads all engineering activities supporting HDPE sheet extrusion lines producing flat sheets for downstream fabrication and building products. This role is accountable for sheet process stability, thickness control, flatness, throughput, and material utilization, while developing engineering standards and driving continuous improvement across all sheet extrusion assets. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the sheet extrusion engineering team supporting flat sheet lines Own sheet extrusion process performance, quality, and output Establish standards for gauge control, cooling profiles, and flatness Lead new sheet gauges, widths, material blends, and product launches Drive improvements in throughput, yield, and energy efficiency Partner with tooling, electrical, and maintenance teams on die and line performance Oversee process changes, material qualifications, and corrective actions Develop engineers and technicians through coaching and mentoring Support capital planning for sheet lines, dies, and downstream equipment Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Plastics Engineering, or equivalent experience 8–15+ years of thermoplastic extrusion experience, preferably HDPE sheet Prior engineering leadership experience in a manufacturing environment Strong understanding of flat die design, cooling, and gauge control Proven ability to lead multi-line, multi-shift operations PREFERRED EXPERIENCE Wide-sheet or structural HDPE sheet extrusion Recycled material integration and thickness-critical products SPC, CI, and process capability leadership Capital equipment upgrades and line expansions

Responsibilities

This role leads all engineering activities for HDPE sheet extrusion lines, focusing on process stability, quality, and output, including establishing standards for gauge control and flatness. The manager is also responsible for driving improvements in throughput and yield, and supporting capital planning for sheet lines and associated equipment.
