Description Position Summary At RIX Industries, our Manufacturing Engineering department deals with real-world production challenges in a dynamic design/build/test environment. This role is geared toward recent graduates or students pursuing degrees in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related disciplines who are eager to gain experience in high-performance manufacturing systems, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. This part-time, temporary position will support RIX’s Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Services, and R&D teams, with a particular focus on manufacturing processes, production planning support, and cost-effective design implementation in mind. This is a unique opportunity to gain insight into the production floor execution process. While this role is intended to be temporary, we anticipate a duration of 6 to12 months and Paid Time Off benefits will be available. Responsibilities Supporting design-for-manufacture and assembly efforts. Creating and updating manufacturing process documentation, Bills of Materials, routing, and work instructions. Performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions for production issues. Collaborating with the shop floor to troubleshoot manufacturing and test processes. Participating in lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives. Assisting in the selection of tooling, fixtures, and materials to optimize production efficiency. Supporting manufacturing cost analysis and Design to Unit Production Cost initiatives. Assisting in the transition of new products from engineering development to full-scale production. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Student or Graduate of Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related program. Strong proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software. Experience with Microsoft Excel, especially pivot tables and data analysis. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work onsite in Benicia, CA. Interest in hands-on, cross-functional engineering work. Detail-oriented, self-starting, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. This is a part-time position for up to 28 hours per week. Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or qualified U.S. Person in accordance with ALU 22CFR 120.15. Must have the following physical abilities: Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch, reach, and lift. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a desk or table as well as machine tools or printers.
