What to Expect
As a Manufacturing Equipment Engineer on Semi’s Battery Module & Pack, Production Engineering team, you will sustain, optimize, and improve advanced automated manufacturing equipment. This role involves reducing downtime, maximizing efficiency, and enhancing safety and process standards. You’ll become a subject matter expert on critical equipment, contributing to Tesla’s mission of building a sustainable future.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs) that require international travel to validate and launch new production tooling
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to support continuous production and minimize downtime
  • Design and validate jigs, fixtures, tooling, and maintenance schedules to ensure safety and reliability
  • Uses first principals’ approach and lead upgrades and modifications to improve equipment performance and process capability
  • Develop expertise on assigned equipment, including automation systems, to support training and troubleshooting
  • Run ROI analysis and present engineering justification to Capex

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong 2D and 3D CAD design skillset
  • Hands-on knowledge of robotics (e.g., Fanuc), vision systems (e.g., Keyence, Cognex), dispense systems, and conveyance systems
  • Familiarity with AGVs, torque tools, dispense, fluid fill systems, and EOL testing is a plus
  • Strong skills in designing jigs, fixtures, and tooling with a focus on safety, DFM, and GD&T
  • Demonstrated experience with 3-phase 480/208 VAC, single-phase 208/120 VAC, and 24 VDC systems
  • Proven problem-solving ability using structured methods like DMAIC, 8D, or 5 Whys, and excellent communication and teamwork skills
