Manufacturing Machining Technician – Hickory, NC Overview US Conec is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Machining Technician to join our RD&E team. In this role, you’ll provide hands‑on support for production and engineering projects, specializing in precision machining of mold components and advanced technologies such as Single Point Diamond Turning (SPDT), Wire EDM, and Hole Driller EDM. You’ll play a critical role in turning engineering designs into ultra‑precise parts, supporting product development, and ensuring the highest quality standards. Responsibilities Program and operate multi‑axis machining equipment, Wire EDM, Hole Driller EDM, SPDT machines, and surface grinders for high‑tolerance features. Create and optimize CAM programs (ESPRIT) using 3D CAD (AutoDesk Inventor) and GD&T. Perform ultra‑precision gauging and dimensional verification with accuracies to 0.0001 mm. Inspect mold tooling and components using precision measurement systems; analyze and communicate results to guide team decisions. Support engineering projects and provide technical assistance to production teams. Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs for machining equipment. Perform or coordinate equipment repairs as needed. Assist with product and process qualifications in collaboration with Product Development and Quality Assurance. Document activities, collect data, and prepare reports to support continuous improvement. Must Haves Associate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on experience. 4–6 years of experience in advanced machining processes. Precision machining experience with SPDT, Wire EDM, Hole Driller EDM, and high‑accuracy CNC equipment. Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings. Proficiency in CAD/CAM programming, including generating and modifying G‑code. Strong troubleshooting, prioritization, and process improvement skills. Familiarity with precision metrology instrumentation and ability to inspect very small components (down to 125 microns). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Nice to Haves Experience with thermoplastic or thermoset molds and molding equipment. Background in hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or electronic systems repair. Knowledge of experimental design, data analysis, and statistical quality control techniques. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
