Description

The Manufacturing Maintenance Blade Sharpener is responsible for sharpening, maintaining, and handling cutting blades used in slitting and converting operations. This role supports production by ensuring blades are properly maintained, safely handled, and available for use. The position also assists with basic maintenance tasks and general facility upkeep as needed. Education * High school diploma or equivalent required * Technical training or certification (vocational or trade school) is a plus Preferred Experience * Exposure to equipment, cutting tools, or blade sharpening processes is a plus * Mechanical aptitude or maintenance experience Requirements * Ability to follow all quality and safety procedures, including documentation and verification of work performed * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs * Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout an 8–12 hour shift * Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment maintenance * Attention to detail when handling and sharpening precision blades * Ability to use hand tools, measuring tools, and sharpening equipment safely * Basic understanding of shop safety practices (PPE, lockout/tagout preferred) * Ability to maintain records related to blade inventory, sharpening schedules, and usage * Good communication skills and ability to work with production and maintenance teams Duties * Sharpen, hone, and maintain slitter and cutting blades to required specifications * Inspect blades for wear, damage, and performance issues; remove and replace as needed * Track blade usage and maintain sharpening and inventory logs * Ensure proper storage and handling of blades to prevent damage or injury * Assist with installation and setup of blades on equipment
