POSITION SUMMARY

The Spray Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and applying high-quality paint finishes to elevator components, doors, frames, panels, and other fabricated parts. This role ensures that all painted surfaces meet company quality, durability, and aesthetic standards, while complying with workplace safety, environmental, and manufacturing guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification in industrial painting is an asset.
  • Experience:
  • 2+ years of industrial or automotive spray painting experience (experience in elevator, construction, or manufacturing industry preferred).
  • Knowledge of various paint types (powder coat, epoxy, polyurethane) and application methods.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret job orders, colour codes, and technical drawings.
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs for extended periods.
  • Understanding of safe handling of chemicals and paints.

Responsibilities
  • Surface Preparation:
  • Clean, sand, mask, and prime metal surfaces prior to painting.
  • Inspect parts for defects, damage, or contamination before painting.
  • Mix and match paints to required specifications and colour codes.
  • Spray Painting:
  • Operate spray guns, paint booths, and other finishing equipment to apply paint coatings.
  • Ensure even coating application, correct thickness, and smooth finishes.
  • Follow proper curing/drying processes to achieve desired durability and appearance.
  • Quality Control:
  • Inspect finished work for flaws such as drips, runs, or uneven coverage.
  • Touch up and correct any defects before final assembly or shipping.
  • Equipment & Maintenance:
  • Maintain spray guns, paint booths, and related equipment in proper working order.
  • Keep paint and chemical storage areas organized and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures, including PPE use.
  • Handle hazardous materials in accordance with WHMIS and company policy.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
