What You'll Work On Works with manufacturing supervisors, production crews, and maintenance to troubleshoot manufacturing problems and develop corrective actions to eliminate the return of those problems. Partners with other Engineers and the Manufacturing Team to improve overall equipment effectiveness and to continuously improve the aseptic equipment, blow mold and associated support systems to achieve optimal performance. Investigates, develops, and recommends improvements for design, procurement, and installation of new/modified equipment or systems for the optimal utilization and control of resources. Implement, document, and maintain controlled, repeatable production processes. As a technical specialist, is assigned problems which require unique design/research approaches to problems as well as is routinely called on to troubleshoot engineering problems critical to the plant operations. Assist in development/prepare qualification and validation protocols and participate in and/or lead qualification and validation activities. Research, recommend, implement, and qualify replacement parts for discontinued/obsolete components, equipment, and software. Identify, investigate and resolve production yield issues or equipment reliability issues to prevent re-occurence Supports the re-validation of the Aseptic Filling process on a bi-annual basis. Responsible for the reliable operation and technical accuracy of manufacturing equipment/systems. Accountable for identifying and achieving manufacturing scrap targets, and supporting product cost reduction activities. Successful execution of the responsibilities associated with this position results in stable production operations, stable or improving yields and cost metrics, and conformance with site, corporate and regulatory requirements. Develop and qualify solutions meeting patient and business needs, and FDA and ISO regulations. Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) performance and compliance through active participation and support of Abbott’s EHS program. Planning and conducting small to medium sized projects within the manufacturing engineering function (detailed project planning/monitoring, project reviews, implementation, validation, vendor/contractor management, and release to production) Identifying and implementing cost reduction and productivity improvement projects This position has a direct impact on productivity and performance throughout the plant. This includes product quality and the effective utilization of headcount / equipment. This position will be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience 5 years experience in a mid volume manufacturing environment developing and implementing manufacturing and/or qualification procedures Knowledge of process equipment such as pumps, valves and instrumentation Ability to interact well with diverse groups within the operation and maintain strong working relationships with internals in a collaborative, fast paced, goal driven environment Effective communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications 2 years direct experience supporting either aseptic filling or blow molding systems preferred High computer competence including PLC, AUTOCAD and industrial inspection systems applications In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
