KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, and continuously improve manufacturing processes for critical naval components and shipbuilding projects.
  • Optimize existing manufacturing processes to achieve tangible increases in productivity, significant cost reductions, and elevated overall product quality.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with Operations and Engineering to ensure a high-performing, integrated end-to-end process from design to final manufacturing.
  • Proactively identify manufacturing process risks and architect robust mitigation strategies to safeguard production and ensure project success.
  • Lead the identification of inefficiencies and quality deviations in production, then implement impactful process improvements using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous excellence.Establish and meticulously document comprehensive manufacturing processes and best practices, ensuring invaluable knowledge retention and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the organization.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and optimizing complex manufacturing processes, ideally in shipbuilding or related heavy industry, with a proven record of tangible improvements.
  • Proficient in applying Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to identify inefficiencies and implement effective process improvements.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills to effectively partner with Operations, Engineering, and other departments, ensuring seamless production flow.
  • Proven ability to identify and mitigate potential manufacturing risks, coupled with experience in documenting processes and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Relevant technical degree (Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering) and fluency in English.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.

As the Manufacturing Process Engineer at Damen Naval, you will be at the forefront of developing and optimizing efficient manufacturing processes for our critical naval projects. Your work will directly influence production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and the overall quality of our vessels. Collaborating closely with Operations and Engineering teams, you will play a key role in enhancing the manufacturability of our designs and driving continuous improvement initiatives through your expertise in process optimization.
