Job Summary: As a Manufacturing & Quality Engineering Intern, you will be working closely with the Manufacturing Engineer and Quality Engineer to support ongoing activities within our New Product Introduction (NPI) manufacturing and packaging environment. This document outlines what you can expect throughout the internship and how your work will contribute to the team’s success. This internship role will assist in preparing, testing, validating, and documenting manufacturing and packaging processes associated with new product introductions and updates to existing production workflows. The role involves hands-on support on the production floor as well as technical and documentation-focused tasks within engineering. Responsibilities: * Participate in line trials, test builds, and process validation activities. * Assistwith setting up,observing, and verifying manufacturing and packaging processes to ensure readiness for production. * Collect process data, support workflow observations, andidentifypotential process improvements. * Contribute to updates of work instructions, process documentation, and standard operating procedures. * Support packaging configuration verification and documentation updates. * Assistin checking materials, labeling, and packaging requirements for compliance with specifications. * Contribute to the organization and accuracy of packaging workflows and related documentation.: * Conduct basic quality checks, measurements, and inspection activities under supervision. * Assistwith data collection, defect tracking, and preliminary investigation tasks. * Participate in quality reporting, documentation updates, and internal process audits as directed. Learning Objectives.  By the end of the internship, the intern will gain exposure to: * The full NPI process and its transition from development into manufacturing. * Manufacturing operations, including equipment, workflows, materials handling, and safety practices. * Process development, validationmethodology, and readiness evaluation for production scaling. * Fundamental quality engineering principles such as defect identification, inspectionmethodology, androot‑causeanalysis. * Engineering documentation practices, including drafting and updating controlled documents. * Cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams. * Data collection and reporting * How to write and update work instructions, PFMEAs, and process documentation * Root-cause problem solving using tools like 5 Whys, fishbone analysis, and basic statistical methods * Collaboration with cross‑functional teams including Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D Expectations * Maintain clear and organized notes, documentation, and data logs. * Follow all safety procedures, especially when working on the production floor. * Ask questions proactively to clarify tasks andobjectives. * Communicate regularly with assigned engineering supervisors for task prioritization and feedback. * Participate in meetings, build events, and reviews as directed. * Demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. Expected Outcomes By the conclusion of the internship, the intern should be able to articulate: * How manufacturing processes are developed,validated, controlled, and improved * How quality issues areidentified, analyzed, and resolved * Key stages and requirements of an NPI cycle * How engineering teams collaborate across functions to support production readiness The intern may be asked to present a summary of their work, findings, or learnings to the engineering team at the end of the internship. Tools, Methods, and Systems Depending on project assignments, the intern may use: * Measurement tools such as gauges or calipers * Basic manufacturing or packaging equipment under supervision * Spreadsheets or data tools for measurement tracking and reporting * Root-cause and problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys or fishbone diagrams Training and supervision will be provided for all tools and equipment as required. Experience and Education * Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited engineering program. * Preferred majors include Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, ora relateddiscipline. * Civil engineering majors are excluded due to lack of role alignment. * Completion of at least two years of undergraduate engineering coursework (junior standing or above) orfirstyeargraduate status. * Experience * Priorcoursework or exposure to topics such as manufacturing processes, quality principles, materials science, orengineering designis beneficial. * Experience working in laboratory settings, project teams, or engineering clubs is helpful but notrequired. * Familiarity with Excel orother data analysis toolsis preferred. * No prior industry experience isrequired; training will be provided for all responsibilities. Physical Requirements * Must occasionally lift and carry boxes weighing 25lbs+ from floor to waist height. * Frequently lift items up to 25lbs from waist to shoulder level.  * Ability to bend, stoop, twist, and crouch occasionally.  * Work is performed in a standard warehouse setting.
