Description MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN POSITION: Orbion Space Technology is seeking a Manufacturing Technician with prior experience in precision manufacturing, assembly and testing, and final inspection of high-quality products. Experience with manufacturing and functional testing of hardware and electronics is optimal. The position is full time, on-site in Orbion’s Houghton, MI offices. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN The Manufacturing Technician will perform complex inspection, assembly, and testing of space propulsion systems according to established specifications and instructions. Responsibilities include: Drive business results through manufacturing, assembly, testing accuracy and productivity Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations Escalate all unsafe conditions so they can be promptly addressed Report defective units or questionable conditions to supervisor immediately Accurately follow work assignments, work instructions and test procedures Perform mechanical and electrical component assembly and testing Sustain standard housekeeping of all work areas, equipment, and tooling Read and interpret drawings, work instructions and test specifications Assist with maintenance of company equipment as necessary, verify all equipment is calibrated Perform occasional final system inspection and testing, including shock and vibration, as required Complete tasks as directed and on schedule with minimum supervision Work overtime beyond 40 hours/week dependent on varying business needs MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Must meet definition of United States Person High School Diploma or GED Strong math and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal communication Good mechanical skills Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a production assembly and testing environment General knowledge of MS Outlook Experience in a manufacturing environment with in-depth knowledge of assembly and test processes Attention to detail for assembly and cleanliness requirements and part traceability and documentation Ability and willingness to travel (up to 20%) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate degree Highly motivated, pro-active, self-starter Experience with build tracking using a Manufacturing Execution System Fine motor skills required for minute adjustments Ability to stand and walk on a concrete surface for extended periods throughout a standard work shift Ability to lift/carry up to 40 pound loads from floor level to chest level Experience with measurement systems, metrology, or GD&T COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:?
