POSITION OVERVIEW

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated Manufacturing Tool Engineering and Fabrication Manager to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • BS degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace preferred) from an accredited university.
  • 10+ years of experience associated with tool design for metal and composite aerostructure manufacturing and assembly.
  • Experience with Government and Aerospace specifications.
  • Experience designing in CAD systems (CATIA V5 preferred).
  • Experience utilizing ERP/MRP planning systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint , and Project Scheduling.
  • Must be a US Person.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with direct supervision, leading a team of 5 or more subordinates
  • Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Process Improvement methods.
  • Ability to use software tools to support Manufacturing Engineering:
    Microsoft Office Suite inclusive of Microsoft Project and Visio
    CAD/CAM software.

    ERP Systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
  • Follow Boeing regulations for lifting.
  • Must be able to travel to various 3rd party or Aurora/Boeing sites (up to 25% travel).
Responsibilities
  • Lead a technical tool engineering and fabrication team responsible for the design, production, and maintenance of production system tooling for recurring production and development/prototype programs.
  • Supervise the team to optimize resources and program support for tool design and fabrication activities.
  • Oversee the creation of hard and soft tool designs, tool inspection checklists, first article inspections, request for change inquiries, bid packages for suppliers, and Supplier Statements of Work (SSOW’s) for tool procurements.
  • Maintain and operate to the command media for the tool engineering and fabrication group.
  • Prepare tool concepts, basis of estimates, and quotes in support of business development.
  • Provide support to the production floor with drawing and technical specification interpretations, producibility support, and general engineering troubleshooting.
  • Prevent process bottlenecks and improve processes for tool engineering activities.
  • Generate project schedules and develop metrics to manage team earned value against program objectives.
  • Ensure projects and tasks are performed safely, efficiently, on budget/schedule, and to established quality standards.
  • Ensures engineers and fabricators follow established company procedures and project execution processes.
  • Reports recurring team and individual project activity.
  • Ensures individual development through performance management processes.
  • Promote and solicit team innovation to improve organizational competence.
