Determines type of welding to be used, such as metallic arc, inert gas, electrode, and oven treatment, applying knowledge of metals to be joined, contours and angles to be formed, and specified stress tolerances. Inspects grooves, angles, gap allowances, and related aspects of assembly to ensure conformance to specifications, using micrometer, caliper, and related precision measuring instruments. Understands how changes to the preparation of the tube/material will change the inputs required for welding. Performs work and troubleshooting requiring knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heats, stress relief, allowances for fit-up and machining, and the effect of shrinkage, warpage and expansion Achieve, maintain, and actively perform certified orbital and certified manual (hand) OSS welding procedures inspected according to the relevant quality program (typically ultrasonic and/or radiographic, die penetrant and bend testing). Performs assembly of medium complexity components - umbilical terminations and distribution equipment. Actively participate on and strictly follow standards of the Lean Manufacturing Program & Health, Safety, Security, and Environment programs. Other duties as assigned High school Diploma or GED.
