JOB DESCRIPTION

Aramark currently have great opportunities for Ships Cooks to work on their clients SOV vessels working out of the Tyne-Tees area of Northern England. This would be working on 28 days rotations and are temporary to permanent positions.
All applicants must hold full STCW certification as well as a Full ENG1 Medical without restrictions. A Ships Cook Certificate of Competency is also mandatory.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full STCW certification, Ships Cook CoC, and unrestricted ENG1 Medical (mandatory)
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 (minimum requirement)
  • C&G 7061/2 or NVQ/SVQ Culinary qualifications (mandatory)
Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities required by the position include:

  • Operating in line with Aramark’s and our clients’ policies and procedures with particular emphasis on hygiene and safety.
  • Preparation and provision of meals ensuring these constitute a balanced, varied and interesting diet taking into account any special dietary requirements of the crew onboard.
  • Ensuring all working hygiene standards in the galley area of operations meet both the company’s and statutory requirements.
  • Supervise the serving and distribution of all meals.
  • Ensure that twenty-four-hour catering or overnight food is available, as required.
  • Management of the ordering, storage and use of all catering stores, within budget confines.
  • Check catering stores as supplied and inform the Master of stores wrongly delivered or missing.
  • Continual monitoring of all freezer and chill areas.
  • Continual monitoring of safety aspects of operations within the galley and other catering areas.
  • Reporting of all defects, in the galley, fridges, freezers and food store areas to the Chief Engineer.
  • Any other reasonable tasks consistent with the expected responsibilities and duties of the post and as directed by the Master or his delegated authority.
