Mō te Tūranga | About the Role As a Marine Claims Lead, you'll be responsible for building and leading a high-performing team that delivers customer-focused claims experiences through technical excellence and strong interpersonal skills. You'll oversee operational performance, manage vendor relationships, and ensure governance and compliance across complex and high-value claims. Your role includes coaching and mentoring your team, driving continuous improvement in claims processes, and collaborating with underwriting, actuarial, legal, and distribution teams to support enterprise-wide goals. You'll also develop educational content to enhance claims literacy across the business and contribute to strategic planning that aligns with broader organisational objectives, while strengthening relationships that improve customer ease and trust. This is a permanent, full-time hybrid role, based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), Kirikiriroa (Hamilton), Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) or Ōtautahi (Christchurch), New Zealand. Ōu Pūkenga | About You To be successful in the role, you’ll need: Extensive marine claims experience – minimum 5 years in the insurance industry, with deep technical expertise. Proven people leadership – ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing claims teams. Exceptional communication skills – confident in both written and verbal formats, including presentations. Strong negotiation and influencing abilities – able to drive outcomes and manage complex stakeholder relationships. Financial acumen – capable of interpreting and applying financial data and performance reports effectively.
