JOB DESCRIPTION – MARINE CONSTRUCTION DECKHAND

We are looking for a Deckhand to join our marine construction division. Deckhands play a key role in supporting safe and efficient marine construction projects. This is a hands-on, physical role that involves working outdoors on the water, assisting with crane and rigging operations, running skiffs and keeping the equipment organized and safe.
No prior marine experience is required (but is an asset) — training will be provided. We are open to hiring candidates with minimal experience, as well as those with a strong background in construction or the marine industry.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Physically fit, with the ability to lift heavy gear, climb ladders, and work safely on deck.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic, situational awareness, and willingness to learn.
  • Experience in rigging, construction, or marine work is an asset but not required — training provided.
  • Valid marine certifications (such as Marine Emergency Duties – Basic Safety, SVOP) are an asset, but not required to apply.
  • First Aid is an asset, but not required to apply.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the day to day safe operation of a crane barge, and support equipment
  • Assist in mooring, line-handling, and securing equipment and materials.
  • Support crane operations by helping with rigging loads, attaching gear, and spotting for the operator.
  • Handle tools, supplies, and construction materials on deck.
  • Perform routine deck maintenance such as cleaning, painting, greasing, and organizing equipment.
  • Participate in safety drills and respond effectively in emergencies.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent, Crane Operator and Barge Mechanic to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free work area.
