Description

We are looking for a certified Marine Engineer to join our tug fleet and ensure that our vessels continue to operate safely, reliably, and to the highest standard.
The Engineer is the backbone of the engine room, responsible for the upkeep and smooth running of all propulsion and auxiliary systems. From main engines to generators, hydraulics, pumps, and electrical systems, the Engineer must keep the machinery in peak condition and ready for duty.
Day to day, this means carrying out preventative maintenance, troubleshooting problems as they arise, and taking on repairs at sea when needed.
The Engineer also keeps accurate logs, maintains compliance with Transport Canada and environmental regulations, and ensures the vessel meets all operational and safety requirements.
Just as important, the Engineer works closely with the Captain and deck crew to support tug operations, whether it’s standing by for a critical tow, adjusting power for a barge maneuver, or responding quickly to an emergency.
To be successful in this role, candidates must hold a valid Transport Canada Certificate of Competency, either 4th Class with a 3rd Class endorsement, or 2nd Class with a Chief endorsement.
A valid Marine Medical and all required STCW training are mandatory. Beyond certificates, we are looking for hands-on experience, a strong mechanical mind, and the ability to problem-solve under pressure.
Above all, we expect a commitment to safety, teamwork, and the professional pride it takes to keep a tug running day in and day out.
This is a permanent, full-time position under the Canadian Merchant Service Guild (CMSG) agreement, offering competitive wages and benefits in line with union scale.
