JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Marine IT Support Engineer to assist the IT Manager in the delivery, implementation, and support of a range of IT projects and systems across both our office and ship-based environments. This is a hands-on role that requires solid technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to supporting and maintaining a hybrid IT infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in both office IT support and working in maritime or remote environments, with the ability to adapt quickly, work independently when required, and contribute to the successful deployment and maintenance of IT solutions. Please not that previous maritime IT experience is not essential to this role.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in IT support roles, ideally including project-based work
  • Strong knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs), Windows Server, and desktop environments
  • Experience supporting IT in maritime or remote environments (shipboard IT systems, satellite comms) is highly desirable
  • Structured Cabling – Ability to test and fix CAT5\6 cabling with required tools
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Azure), Active Directory, and Group Policy
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Comfortable working independently in varied environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with crew and office staff
  • Willingness and ability to travel to ships or remote sites (may include international travel and irregular hours)
  • Willingness to assist with out of hours issues (no on call rota)
  • Full UK driving license (preferred)

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or equivalent certifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate / Azure Administrator
  • Maritime-specific IT experience or training (e.g., VSAT, FleetBroadband systems)

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Networking – WAN\LAN configurations with TCP\IP knowledge. Switch\router setup
  • Firewalls – Rule\Interface configuration and troubleshooting
  • Servers – Windows Server experience using Active Directory and Hyper-V
  • Structured Cabling – Ability to test and fix CAT5\6 cabling with required tools
  • Desktop – knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Windows 11
