QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age 18
• Valid Full G License
• Able to lift/carry 50+ lbs (23+kg) repeatedly
• Knowledge of pallet jack operation an asset
• Knowledge of safe food handling
• Prior experience in an animal care facility, farm or kennel is required
• Understanding of Health & Safety regulations pertaining to the Marine Mammal department, care of marine mammals, aquarium maintenance and animal life
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Candidates pursuing studies in Zoology, Animal Science, or other related fields, preferred
• Strong swimming ability, preferred
• Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the entirety of scheduled shifts, during various weather conditions
• Work independently or part of a team
  Support a 7 day a week operation, including evenings, weekends and holiday

JOB PURPOSE:

The Marine Mammal Fish Kitchen Associate has the important responsibility of preparing diets for the marine animals at Marineland of Canada Inc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Preparation of fish diets, including thawing, examining, cutting and bucket preparation for all of the marine animals
• Cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen, fish freezers, buckets, racks and ice machine
• Able to follow instructions related to restocking freezer and loading buckets
• Maintain clean areas around the pools
• Follow all legislative and Marineland Health and Safety policies
• Other duties as assigned
