Some of the things you’ll be doing Treat health, safety, and environmental compliance as a top priority Actively build and maintain Teekay’ s reputation for operational excellence both internally as well as with our external customers Display and promote the Teekay Values and Leadership Behaviors As part of the Marine Operations Team, and working with Manager, Fleet Operations and Vetting: Support the vessel and the fleet team for all Navigation, Cargo, Mooring, and Vetting matters Arrange and manage vetting inspections in consultation with the Ship team, Fleet Operations & Vetting Manager, and commercial groups Submit operator’s comments in the SIRE system following an inspection in co-ordination with the fleet team Manage the response to all vessel screening matters for the assigned ship team Provide specialist advice on vetting issues and to develop vessel and fleet-specific action plans for improvement of vetting performance If required, carry out pre-vetting inspections, navigation, cargo / ballast and mooring audits when sailing onboard Teekay vessels Monitor new legislation, technology and updated industry standards and implement them across the fleet as applicable Ensure that vessel Q88 and HVPQ is always maintained updated Responsible for tracking and arranging Flag State and USCG inspection Ensure compliance with customer requirements relating to marine, navigation and commercial aspects are met. Any noncompliance is drawn to the attention of Management Monitor Vessel voyage progress and ensure that charter party and other voyage requirements are fulfilled Provide the Vessels with guidance and information relating to any specific requirements pertinent to their voyage and proactively issue warnings and cautionary notices as required Monitor Voyage orders. Engage with ship officers, where due to nature of cargo, port or experience of officers, guidance is required. Review and monitor tank cleaning plans To undertake incident investigations as required What we are looking for Ability to motivate and inspire people with passion and conviction Requires the ability to lead by example, influencing and communicating effectively Minimum 2 years of sailing experience as a senior marine deck officer on board oil tankers Thorough knowledge, experience and understanding of vetting and marine standards Excellent communication skills with an ability to respond positively to customers in an effective manner both by voice by email Strong analytical, problem solving, time management and decision-making abilities Team player with good interpersonal skills Develop and promote continuous improvement initiatives and strategies High personal standards of client service, accuracy and delivery What you can expect in return We live by our #TeekaySPIRIT values - they always guide our actions, with no compromises.
