, Singapore Job Family Group: Maritime Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: March 23, 2026 Business Unit: Trading and Supply Experience Level: Experienced Professionals Job Description: What’s the role The Maritime Security Team is responsible for controlling Maritime Security Risks to As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP) and delivering assurance to all downstream maritime assets involved in the transportation of Shell cargo on the water. Additionally, the team provides security support to Upstream and Project assets in designated Maritime Security Zones (MSZ) and evaluates high threat ports. The Global Maritime Security team, operating globally with representatives in the UK, USA, & Singapore, develops risk‑mitigation strategies using Corporate Security threat assessments and monitors security risks to Shell’s trading activities, including maintaining and updating Shell’s MSZs. The team enables safe and secure Shipping and Trading operations by managing security risks, supporting incident response, and converting risk‑relevant intelligence into actionable guidance for the business and external partners. Reporting to the Manager Maritime Security & ER, the Maritime Security Advisor provides regional security oversight—primarily for Asia Pacific—and advises stakeholders on threats and required mitigations, with occasional support to other regions. What you’ll be doing Your primary role is to maintain an overview of all vessels (group managed, period charter, voyage charter and space charter) engaged on Shell business operating in their specific region. You will be responsible for: Overseeing regional implementation of Shell maritime security requirements and ensuring risk mitigation measures maintain ALARP standards. Managing regional execution of Best Management Practices (BMP MS) and other security procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards. Conducting and reviewing regular Security Threat and Risk Assessments, ensuring downstream vessels apply appropriate mitigation measures. Engaging extensively with external stakeholders, including military partners, to understand evolving threat landscapes and prepare for heightened risks. Providing oversight of vessel assessment service providers to ensure performance standards and alignment with regional threat assessments. Delivering day‑to‑day maritime security support to Shell Trading Singapore (SIETCO), ensuring effective information flow and threat awareness. Identifying emerging maritime security threats in Asia and share insights with Corporate Security and global regional Advisors. Ensuring all maritime security activities comply with international laws, SGBP, Group Security Standard (GSS), and the Human Rights framework. Providing SME guidance on threats, risks, and vessel security measures to Technical Managers and CSOs, including voyage intelligence briefings. Conducting internal security assurance, audits and due diligence of PMSCs, support SIMS emergency response activities, and assess APAC ports for high‑threat designation. What you bring The ideal candidate will have: Demonstrated understanding of Maritime Security Risk Management, with military experience—preferably Navy—and exposure to high‑threat maritime environments. Background working with or within Private Maritime Security Companies and familiarity with merchant vessel operations and ship/shore interface management. Proven ability to manage HSSE risks effectively. Able to work independently, make sound decisions within defined parameters, and lead small teams when required. Highly self‑motivated, able to manage conflicting priorities, and capable of maintaining composure and professionalism under pressure. Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) for engaging cross‑discipline and external stakeholders. Fluent in English, with additional languages an advantage. Proficient in Microsoft applications, with a keen interest in data systems/DIY computing/Power BI.
