Our client, located in beautiful Vancouver, BC is a full-service new boat sales, brokerage and service shop serving yacht owners in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
We are looking for a full-time apprentice- trainee to join their team! They are willing to train the right candidate. We are looking for someone with an interest in boating, who enjoys hands-on work and has the motivation to learn! This is a great career opportunity for the right person. If you commit to this apprenticeship and give them 4-6 years, they will help you to become a fully qualified Marine Service Technician!
The company provides repairs, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades, management and installations on new and pre-owned yachts at their busy Granville Island location.

As an apprentice, you will work closely with their Senior Technician and the Owner on a wide scope of work, including but not limited to:

• Detailing, cleaning, waxing and hull painting
• General repairs- adjusting doors, latches, etc.
• 12v dc and 120v ac electrical installations and repairs
• Marine plumbing systems repairs and installations
• Basic woodworking
• Basic fibreglass and gelcoat repair
• Power and sail vessel operations, help with deliveries etc.
• Rigging and mast work. Involves going up the mast in a harness
• Deck hardware repairs and installations
• Light mechanical work, prop shafts, strut installations, engine mounts, etc.

Experience in the above areas is a definite asset but not a requirement. More details on the Marine Service Technician Apprenticeship will be discussed with the right candidate(s).

Are you:

• Physically fit, able to lift heavier materials i.e. batteries?
• Able to distinguish between different colours? (for electrical work)
• Comfortable with enclosed spaces?
• Willing to work in all weather conditions, year-round?
• Able to self-motivate and work alone?

Benefits package is available, and the hours are typically 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.
