POSITION SUMMARY

The Marine Superintendent – Sterling Energy is responsible for or the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Sterling Energy. This role ensures the vessel meet all regulatory, safety, and operational standards while supporting the company’s strategic goals. n this role, the Marine Superintendent will proactively manage vessel readiness, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and implement best practices to optimize operational efficiency. The majority of activities are currently conducted from our Hamilton location.

REQUIREMENTS

• Master Mariner licensed preferred
• Tanker Endorsement advanced or basic is an asset.
• Tug-Barge Experience would be an asset.
• Familiarity with statutes and regulations: ISM, ISO, Canada Shipping Act, SOLAS, Marpol, MOHS, STCW
• Knowledge of the Great Lakes shipping area and related trading patterns
• Knowledge and experience with LNG fuel and gas driven propulsion and heating systems would be beneficial
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
• Sufficient physical fitness required to safely enter cargo holds, confined and void spaces and all areas on a typical ship/ATB

• To perform the role as the e Company Security Officer and DPA for the Managed Fleet.
• To monitor the performance of managed fleet for compliance with international regulations and industry requirements.
• To monitor the compliance on board managed fleet with Voyage orders, Oil Major, and specific charter party requirements.
• To monitor operational performance of the vessel with regards to cargo loading and unloading, tank cleaning and preparation, hold cleaning and preparation in compliance with CP requirements.
• Advise vessels, Fleet Managers and Principals on nautical matters such as loading, stability, draft restrictions, and cargo handling facilities.
• To plan, execute and implement SIRE, Internal and External audits on board managed fleet.
• To monitor navigational operation, voyage performance, commercial operation, and cargo operation of the assigned vessel to ensure compliance with statutory industry standards, national and international rules, and regulations.
• Have practical experience of handling cargoes such as Ethylene, Butadiene -1,2,3, VCM and Butene-1
• Monitor performance of PSA Plant (Nitrogen generator) / Dew point etc
• Monitor Gassing up and cooling down for loading cargo (especially Ethylene)
• Participate in the TMSA review and follow up actions that have been allocated to comply with the expectations of the TMSA.
• Ensure that the Q88, OCIMF and CDI databases are continuously updated with the latest accurate information.
• To monitor that all assigned vessels possess the required statutory certification for safe operation in accordance with Class, Port State Control and Flag State requirements, maritime legislation, safety regulations and relevant operational standards.
• To monitor and ensure that the company procedures are aligned with evolving industry requirements.
• Monitor and ensure that the Managed Fleet performs to required standards in Navigation and Marine Operations
• Conduct training of shipboard personnel in the Company Integrated Management System
• Conduct ship audit/safety/inspections, conduct the incident and accident investigation.
• Conduct officer interviews for crew selection processes.
• Monitor and follow up on all findings from internal/ external inspections and audits.
• Assist shipboard HS&E Committees to identify workplace hazards.
• Assist vessels with the analysis of critical tasks and the development of formally documented procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of these tasks.
• Conduct on board Occupational Health and Safety workplace assessments, as necessary.
• Provide an assessment of vessels with regard to general health, safety, security and environment protection standards, which can be used in the development and implementation of target area improvement programs
• Provide updates on audit reports, new requirements, and new equipment.
