COMPLIANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL AND DOMESTIC REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS AND LEGISLATIONS

  • Ensure ships always maintain class.
  • Ensure timely execution of surveys and certificates renewals and placement of documents on board.
  • Ensure ships comply with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Flag State rules and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance to International Safety Management (ISM) code, International Ship and Port Facility Security Code, (ISPS), Maritime Labor Convention (MLC) and International Standards Organization (ISO) compliance to minimize Non-Conformity Notes (NCN).
  • Investigation of international maritime conventions, domestic and foreign laws and regulations and measures to comply with them.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Ship Navigation (or equivalent)
  • Master Mariner Foreign Going Certificate of Competency Class 1.
  • Minimum 10 years of sailing experience and recent 7 years sailing experience in the capacity as Master / Chief Officer on foreign going vessels especially pure car carrier and container vessels.
  • Deep understanding of Pure Care Carrier and Container vessels operations, and experience in Cargo Damage Prevention on board is preferred.
  • Understand and appreciate the commercial implications of vessel operations. Detailed and analytical, and have a safety, cost and quality conscious mindset. Open to change management and adaptable to a fast and versatile environment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in English, both written and verbal to perform in an international environment. Able to speak Russian language is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Marine Superintendent will report to the Safety Operations/Quality Assurance General Manager. The incumbent will ensure the safe operation of ships and compliance to the statutory requirements of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
The Marine Superintendent will assist in the implementation and upkeep of the Safety Management System; analyses risk and ensures compliance to the organization’s risk management framework. The Marine Superintendent will provide guidance to the Master on board for navigational matters and conducts incident investigation on board the ship, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Safety and Health practices
  • Duties related to insurance matters, i.e. liaison with P&I club, COFR & CLC Certificates.
