Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, IT is seeking a dedicated and motivated full-time permanent Marine Technical Director to join our team in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This role will support the Marine Operations team with vessel management. They will be assigned a vessel from the company fleet and manage it from a technical perspective. This would include advising for PM, planning for drydocking, supporting with modifications and identifying key issues, risks and opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Chief Engineering (Marine) Certification or previously held

EXPERIENCE:

  • 15-20+ years of experience in the marine industry
  • In-depth knowledge of marine regulations and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in marine engineering and navigation.
  • Experience with safety management systems.
  • Ability to manage budgets and control costs.
  • Experience with the maintenance and repair of marine vessels.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
  • Ability to travel to various ports and vessels.
  • Experience with writing dry docking spec’s and overseeing drydocking of vessels
  • Experience with subsea equipment (ROV’s, plough, etc.) is considered an asset
    Interested and available for national and international travel. A valid passport is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant marine regulations and guidelines
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operations of all vessels under company management
  • Support and expand vessel maintenance plans to ensure maximum availability and longevity of assets
  • Provide technical support to the marine crews
  • Conduct regular vessel inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Monitor vessel performance and provide regular reports to management
  • Act as the primary point of contact for any marine-related issues or emergencies
  • Forecast, plan (including scope development) and be responsible for the drydocking of company vessels, including budget and cost control.
