These roles offer a consistent and balanced work schedule: 7:00am – 3:45pm Monday to Thursday and 7:00am – 12:00pm Friday. As a Marine Technician / Fitter, you will carry out maintenance and engineering work on specialist Defence equipment. This includes the installation, inspection, repair, modification, and reconditioning of military armaments, watercraft, small engines, and various general engineering tasks. Why join us? We’re looking for someone who has: A trade qualification in Marine Mechanical Technology (Certificate III) or Fitter and Turner (Certificate III) A current Driver’s Licence Small engine qualifications or experience (highly regarded) Experience working with lathes, milling machines, and other metal-working equipment You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain an Australian Defence Clearance Primary Duties Interpret specifications and documentation to determine job requirements Operate machinery to produce, modify, or repair parts and tools Inspect and verify the quality of completed work Fit, assemble, and test components Provide technical advice to equipment users Complete relevant data entry and documentation Repair and maintain a range of equipment, including small engines, general service tools, and marine systems About the contract Ventia is the Australian Defence Force (ADF) industry partner for the repair and maintenance of Army materiel including artillery, small arms, instrument repair, night vision equipment and all armoured vehicles and variants. We currently deliver approximately 900,000 maintenance hours annually and operate a 24/7 nationwide vehicle and equipment recovery service. As part of our contract with the ADF, Ventia provide materiel maintenance support of land-based equipment for Joint Logistics Unit (JLU). We operate in every Australian State and Territory with a 3,000-strong workforce consisting of passionate civilians and Defence Veterans.
