Location: Based in Falmouth, with current operations in Wales

Our extensive portfolio includes marine renewable energy construction, project cargo handling, marine civil engineering, salvage operations, and a wide range of offshore and specialist marine services.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Solo Engineer to join our workboat team, which plays a key role in KML’s salvage and survey operations. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a professional and skilled team currently engaged in a decommissioning and dive survey project in Wales.
Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Vessel Master, your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking full responsibility for the vessel’s engineering and auxiliary systems.
  • Conducting regular inspections to identify mechanical issues or potential hazards.
  • Undertaking engine room watches.
  • Performing routine maintenance, including servicing Volvo Penta engines.
  • Maintaining basic hotel systems onboard and hydraulic systems for deck machinery.
  • Keeping accurate records of maintenance and promptly reporting any major issues to management.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations applicable to marine operations.
  • Promote and support a safety-first culture onboard.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training to ensure awareness of current procedures.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Be ready to respond effectively to onboard emergencies.
  • Follow company emergency response protocols diligently.

Communication & Coordination

  • Maintain effective communication with shore-based teams and other vessels to ensure coordinated and safe operations.

Documentation

  • Keep detailed records of all lifting operations, maintenance tasks, and other activities as required by company policy and maritime regulations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Valid certification as a solo engineer; AEC 1 and AEC 2 are required at a minimum. Candidates with EOOW certification are also encouraged to apply.
  • Sound knowledge of HSE regulations in the marine sector.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging weather and sea conditions.
  • High sense of responsibility and a strong commitment to safety.

Pay: £200.00-£230.00 per day
