About the Opportunity Rottnest Express is seeking a Marine Vessel Engineer (minimum MED 2 qualification) to join the team on a full time basis working a lifestyle roster, casual opportunities are also available. The successful candidate will, through relevant procedures, be responsible to maintain the safe mechanical operation of vessels ensuring all repairs are conducted safely and efficiently. Key responsibilities include, but not limited to; Perform daily engine and machinery checks on assigned vessels; Assist Master with the management and safe operations of the vessel in accordance with policies and procedures; Diagnose system problems as and when they occur; Ensure all maintenance requirements and ramifications are recorded; Coordinate and maintain effective vessel preventative maintenance programs; Accurately maintain logs and work orders through to job completion and sign off; Assist with securing vessels at the various marinas and island jetties; Be involved in safety drill practices as required by the Master; and Assist with guest experience duties including meeting and greeting of guests. About You The ideal candidate will be highly skilled and a team player with a demonstrated positive "can-do" attitude, and have flexibility to work varied hours including weekends and public holidays. You will be an: Experienced Marine Engineer with minimum MED 2 qualification (preferably within the Marine Tourism industry); Hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol and First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain) High level of marine engine and system knowledge; Experience in conducting risk assessments and introducing practical safety measures; Excellent customer service skills ensuring to meet the guest expectations; Experience with high speed vessels; Excellent ability to manage time and have strong organisational skills; Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team; and Excellent communication and problem solving skills with customer service resolution skill.
