About the department
Being part of Euronext Market Services (EMS), EMS Markets is at the heart of the Euronext organization. EMS is the front line for Euronext Cash, Derivatives and Commodities business with two operational centres in Amsterdam and Paris. Managing the safety net for trading and safe keeping of the Euronext financial markets within the legal framework to ensure fair and orderly markets for all Cash, Derivatives and Commodities products trading is part of the day to day work. The two teams operate daily from 06:30-22:30 CET.
EMS is a preferred entry point for all talents willing to work in the Euronext or more broadly in the financial markets industry. The team in Amsterdam is a team that consists of 14 enthusiastic professionals with a balanced mix of junior and senior people that all bring different expertise.
About the position
Depending on the shift, the Market Surveillance Analyst has responsibility over a portfolio of international Equity, Index or Commodity Derivative products. One of the main tasks is to supervise the portfolio of Derivative products and trading behaviours to ensure fair and orderly trading is safeguarded. Within your responsibilities you will take necessary actions to prevent irregularities in the market and to resolve issues quickly and accurately.

The candidate will be primarily responsible for:

  • Maintaining the derivative safety nets that are used for trading to avoid particular occurrences such as significant price deviations or flash crashes. This can be done by tuning settings and resolving derivative pricing alerts and adjusting pricing parameters.
  • Based on rules and regulations, take decisions to halt and reopen the derivative contracts and decide if trades are aberrant or if orders need to be cancelled.
  • Monitor the Derivative alerts, spot, report and escalate irregularities based on the Euronext trading procedures, rulebooks, MIFIDII regulation and Market Abuse framework.
  • Maintain the test environment and perform sanity checks for on new trading platform releases to secure a safe production environment
  • Provide expertise and write Requirements in the diverse projects EMS Markets is involved with.
  • Calculation of high-quality daily settlement prices and expiry prices used as closing prices for the Exchange and used by the clearing house for settlements

Your profile

  • 3-5 years of working experience in a similar position in an exchange or trading firm
  • Master’s Degree in Quant Finance, Econometrics, Engineering or similar quantitative studies
  • Analytical and detail-oriented individual with a strong affinity for financial trading
  • English: full professional proficiency is required; Dutch or French is a plus
  • Strong IT acumen
  • Programming knowledge in Python, R or MATLAB
  • Hands-on approach, organized, with attention to detail and able to bring structure
  • Team player, intercultural competence and excellent communication skills with ability to work in a virtual team across locations to achieve common goals and deliver projects
  • Able to take decisions under pressure, in consultation with other more experienced colleagues, and able to handle stressful situations
