BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The SEED is a community food project of the Guelph Community Health Centre. About 16% of households in Guelph are food insecure (Guelph Wellbeing study, 2014). The SEED’s goal is to change that by offering programs and services that tackle the root causes of poverty. We are supported by hundreds of amazing community members and by many partner organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of Food Insecurity: Knowledge of the causes and effects of food insecurity, particularly within the Guelph-Wellington community.
  • Availability: Available to work 21 hours per week on a regular, ongoing basis. Thursday and Friday, occasionally Saturday.
  • Valid G Driver’s license
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs consistently
  • A working understanding of Excel and Word software
  • Ability to work as an effective member of a team as well as individually
  • Commitment to equity and anti-oppressive practices
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Show initiative and enthusiasm
  • Keen eye for product displays
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Highly organized, keen attention to detail

Responsibilities
  • Prepare food, materials and signage for the market
  • Load and drive cargo van to market sites
  • Set up and tear down of market
  • Oversee market operation
  • Greet customers, partners, volunteers, visitors and answer questions and provide guidance where appropriate
  • Lead the training and supervision of volunteers
  • Communicate challenges and opportunities to the Market Coordinator, collaborate on solutions
  • Support quality improvement (customer experience, feedback collection and analysis, process improvements, etc.)
  • Keyholder position, some warehouse opening and closing procedures required. Door checks, alarm, lighting etc.
