Description About TeenWorks Our mission is to empower teens to achieve excellence in community, college, and career. Through three engaging programs, our teens learn critical skills to successfully follow the post-secondary path of their choosing. All programming provided by TeenWorks is at no cost to the teen or family. The development department is an integral part of the organization’s goal to keep programming accessible and free. As a member of the development department, you will be working to grow our philanthropic contributions. Position Summary The purpose of the Marketing and Communications Intern is to gain experience in strategic communications, social media content creation and management, special events and corporate partnerships. The internship is part-time and includes a stipend. Academic credit can be arranged. The Marketing and Communications Intern will report to the Vice President of Development and Communications. Responsibilities Assist in social media efforts through monthly content plans and graphic design; work with development and programming teams to successfully promote TeenWorks during our Summer Program. Create and collect photographs of summer worksites, volunteer days, and related events. Organize and curate the best photography for organizational use going forward. Assist in conducting audit of website and make improvements as needed; work with development to improve content and page layout. Perform general administrative duties to assist the TeenWorks Development staff and other duties as assigned. Success Indicators Success in this role is indicated by the following: Demonstrate core competencies: Strong communication skills Attention to detail and highly organized Positive and eager to collaborate High level of initiative and follow-through Ability to work independently and with a group Requirements Working Conditions Hybrid schedule. Work 10-12 hours per week. In office on Wednesdays. Start and end dates are flexible. Qualifications Currently obtaining a bachelor’s degree with major in marketing, communications, advertising, non-profit management, or related field Creative, eager, and enthusiastic about TeenWorks mission Social Media experience with Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn Experience with Canva, Mailchimp, and Squarespace a plus Microsoft Office skills
Responsibilities
The intern will assist with social media efforts, including content planning and graphic design, and support the promotion of TeenWorks during the Summer Program. Responsibilities also include creating and curating event photography and assisting with website audits and content improvements.
