ABOUT US

Sustainability Trust, Te Ohu Toitutanga, is a community
enterprise operating in the Te Ūpoko o te Ika (wider Wgtn)
region.
We deliver a range of innovative social and environmental
programmes under several business units and multiple brands,
including FillGood, Sustainable Homes, Te Aro Zero Waste, Toast
Electric and Wellington Curtain Bank.
We are a staff of 38 with approximately 58 volunteers. Our
turnover in the 24 FY was $6.5m.
The two business units that this role is primarily focused on are
Toast Electric and Sustainable Homes.
Toast Electric is a social electricity retailer, owned by
Sustainability Trust and providing electricity in the Wellington
and Horowhenua regions. Toast focuses on supporting
households in energy hardship and growing our customer base

across the lower North Island. Toast currently has 900 customers,
with a goal to increase by 100% within the next 12 months.
Sustainable Homes offers a range of energy solutions that make
Wellington homes warmer and more energy efficient. These
include heat pumps, insulation, central heating and home EV
charging solutions. Sustainable Homes has an ambitious sales
target in the coming financial year.

Responsibilities

ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Development and delivery of the Sustainability Trust brand

strategy

  • Development and delivery of marketing strategies and

plans for Sustainability Trust, Toast, and Sustainable Homes

  • Maintain oversight of marketing strategies and plans for

other business units within the Trust

AND TOAST ELECTRIC (75% OF THE ROLE)

  • Develop marketing strategies and implementation plans for

the Sustainable Homes and Toast Electric

  • Identify and refine target markets for both Sustainable

Homes and Toast Electric

  • Explore ways to develop existing customer value
  • Ensure implementation plans are delivered, monitored and

regularly improved

  • Monitor and analyse sales results to inform weekly marketing

delivery

  • Oversee and manage the marketing budget
  • Ensure the constant improvement of the sales and

marketing processes including harnessing the full power of
the Trust’s Salesforce CRM system

  • Establish and track appropriate KPIs in co-ordination with

sales managers to measure marketing goals are met

SUB BRANDS’ STRATEGIES (25% OF THE ROLE)

  • Promote the Trust to ensure high visibility, demand and

uptake of services

  • Produce a monthly EDM that enables readership growth and

promotion of sales

  • Ensure a consistent presence through our social media

channels

  • Work with business unit managers to develop, and support

marcomms plans across all business units, ensuring

alignment with organisational goals and brand positioning

  • Identify and manage external suppliers (e.g. designers,

copywriters, media consultants) where additional input is

required

  • Support and empower all business units to contribute to

marcomms delivery—providing tools, templates, training,

and guidance to build capability and ensure consistency

  • Make strategic recommendations on budget allocation for

marcomms activities across the organisation and track

spending in collaboration with the finance team

  • Prepare concise quarterly reports on key marketing and

communications metrics for the Sustainability Trust Board
