The Team
The Marketing & BD team at Farrer & Co is responsible for the development and implementation of the firm’s marketing strategy, including profile and reputation, marketing communications, and business development. This extends to all aspects of marketing planning, brand management, campaigns, events, CRM, market and client analysis, pitches and tenders, website, content and digital strategy.
Scope
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive Marketing Campaigns and Content Manager to join our dynamic and friendly marketing communications team. With a focus on communications strategy you will take ownership of firmwide campaigns and initiatives and drive forward the firm’s pipeline of impactful content. This fast-paced, vibrant, and collegiate team would suit a team player who is creative, has a passion for communications, and a proven-track record of effective project management.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy: support the Head of Marketing Communications on developing and implementing digital communications strategy.
  • Campaign development and execution: deliver end-to-end communications plans for cross-firm projects and campaigns – from providing communications advice, inception and creation of strategies, to delivery and measuring success, ensuring all initiatives are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Content strategy: implement a strategic approach to the development and ongoing review of marketing content, championing best practice across all activity types, particularly digital mailings, website, social media, podcasts and videography.
  • Digital communications: work closely with the wider marketing and BD team and other internal stakeholders to coordinate digital marketing communications activity in line with agreed plans and objectives.
  • Strategic guidance: provide guidance to partners, fee earners and other business services teams on effective multi-channel communication and marketing strategies.
  • Other: hands on support for internal communications and all other day-to-day / ad hoc communications requests.
  • Line management of two marketing executives, working with them collaboratively and overseeing how to develop their skillset.

Skills and Experience

  • The ideal candidate will be degree educated with proven experience working in a marketing communications or marketing role, preferably within a professional services environment.
  • With a can-do attitude, the candidate will have exceptional organisational and project management skills and excellent copywriting and editing skills, combined with impeccable attention to detail.
  • An understanding of SEO, analytics & reporting would be useful.
  • Experience supporting paid digital campaigns (e.g. display, social or search advertising).
  • A collaborative mindset: a team player with a consultative approach and the ability to work alongside multiple stakeholders at all levels (both within and outside the team) in order to deliver the best results.
  • Project management from start to finish – someone who is both a self-starter and a finisher, proactive and tenacious.
  • Diplomatic and persuasive with non-marketing colleagues, with (when needed) the ability to say no constructively.
  • Experience within a managerial role desirable.
  • Confident, with good communication skills and a can-do approach within the wider team.
  • Professional and calm under pressure, dealing confidently with stakeholder demands.

Person Specification

  • Genuine interest in marketing communications and commitment to staying current with trends and technologies.
  • Collaborative and confident working with colleagues across Marcomms, BD and the wider firm.
  • Analytical and insight-driven, with the ability to turn data into clear recommendations.
  • Organised and proactive, with a problem-solving approach.
  • Strong sense of accountability and ownership of digital deliverables.
  • Clear communicator, able to convey ideas in plain English to non-specialist colleagues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities.

Education and Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in marketing, digital media, communications or a related field.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and presentations.
