Full time starting salary is normally in the range £27,166 to £28,768, with potential progression once in post to £32,145
Grade: 4
Part Time (14 hours per week)
Fixed Term contract up to June 2026

’Open House’ Drop In Session: We will be holding an ‘open house’ drop in session at the University’s Exchange building, in Centenary Square, Birmingham, between 10am and 5pm on Friday 6th June 2025. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE

  • Educated to A Level standard, or equivalent level 3 qualification such as a Level 3 NVQ, or level 3 national diploma or relevant work experience evidencing the skills and ability to undertake the role.
  • Minimum of grade C in Mathematics and English at GCSE or equivalent.
  • Highly proficient IT skills, including the MS Office and website editing software. The post holder should also be confident and able to quickly learn new IT skills and software packages as required.
  • Proven ability to plan ahead and anticipate requirements, proactively planning own (and sometimes others’ workloads) to manage time effectively, progress tasks concurrently and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write for different audiences, and to required deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. The post holder must inspire confidence and command authority with a range of colleagues and provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Ability to understand policy and procedures and how to apply these.
  • Understands the importance of equality and diversity in the workplace.
  • Ability to identify and respond to equality and diversity issues in line with relevant policies and procedures.
Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

This role supports Barber Concerts activity from within the University Music and Concerts team. You will deliver activities and provide administrative support to the Head of University Music and Concerts in order to maximise our reach and support reputational enhancement. Key elements of the role include creating social media content, promoting opportunities and our public events.

MAIN DUTIES

  • Researching and writing copy for external publications and websites e.g. our Music and Concerts Brochure
  • Working with music staff to deliver and monitor social media activity.
  • Proactively reviewing, maintaining and developing the content of webpages.
  • Liaise with internal and external graphic and digital designers to deliver marketing collateral.
  • Collating, analysing and interpreting data in relation to metrics and reviewing activities in line with these.
  • Identifying opportunities to promote activities as part of city-wide initiatives.
  • Support the wider marketing of our festivals, Barber Opera productions and partnership events funded by the Henry Barber Trust.
  • Supports equality and values diversity, moderating own behaviour to avoid unfair discriminatory impact or bias on others.
