POSITION SUMMARY

As the Marketing & Communications Specialist you will report at the Executive level. You will be responsible for creating and managing the marketing and communications functions to drive awareness, engagement and support for our mission-driven initiatives. Areas of responsibility will include: brand development, marketing strategy, content creation and management, stakeholder relations and community engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications or related field required
• Proven experience in marketing leadership roles, with a deep understanding of marketing principles and practices (preferably five years experience)
• Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector or with a community agency is an asset
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences across various channels
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable marketing plans
• Ability to build rapport, represent the agency and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a team
• Experience managing budgets and resources effectively to achieve desired outcomes
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
• Ability to travel to various program sites within Edmonton

• Develop Marketing Strategy: Collaborate with key partners to develop a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with the organization’s purpose, plan and values.
• Brand Development and Management: Cultivate the organization’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communications channels and materials.
• Content Creation and Management: Oversee the creation and management of compelling content (written, visual, and multimedia) that effectively communicates the agency’s purpose and impact.
• Digital Marketing: Develop and execute digital marketing campaigns across various platforms (website, social media, email, etc.) to increase brand awareness, engagement, and support.
• Stakeholder Relations and Media Outreach: In collaboration with the Executive, cultivate relationships with media outlets, influencers, and other relevant partners to generate positive media coverage and increase visibility for the organization.
• Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to engage with and mobilize the agency’s community of supporters, volunteers, donors, and clients
• Marketing Analytics and Performance Tracking: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize analytic tools to track, measure, and optimize the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor and coach a team of communications professionals to foster personal and professional growth and a positive work culture.
• Budget Management: In collaboration with the Director of Finance, develop and manage the department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
