Description

WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Open Home Foundation is looking for a Marketing Copywriter based in Europe to join our Marketing team. This team is responsible for connecting the Foundation’s projects, such as Home Assistant and ESPHome, with the people who benefit from them most: users, contributors, and partners. By making it easier for people to discover, use, and get involved with our projects, the Open Home ecosystem can grow in a way that’s aligned with our values.
You will be the second copywriter to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll write clear and engaging copy for a variety of marketing projects, from product launch materials and blog posts to landing pages, newsletters, and social media content. You’ll collaborate closely with people working on the Open Home projects, both those on internal teams and with community members, to turn their work into compelling content that resonates with both newcomers and expert users.

ABOUT US

The Open Home Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Switzerland, with the objective of fighting for the fundamental principles of privacy, choice, and sustainability for smart homes. It does this by supporting the development of open-source projects, and open connectivity and communication standards.

A big part of this is Home Assistant, the biggest open-source project in number of contributors, but the Open Home Foundation also owns or collaborates with other projects important to promoting privacy, choice, and sustainability in the smart home, like:

  • Open hardware tools (e.g., ESPHome, ESP Web Tools)
  • Open standards (e.g., Python Matter Server, Z-Wave JS, ZigPy, BTHome, Improv Wi-Fi)
  • Open voice (e.g., Rhasspy, Wyoming Protocol, Piper)
Responsibilities

WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO

  • Work on a wide range of content (including websites, blog, guides and tutorials, print, packaging, newsletters, video, and social media).
  • Write all content in a compelling, clear, and error-free way.
  • Edit and proofread content created by others, contributing to overall quality and consistency.
  • Work together with the entire creative team (designers, copywriters, and web developers) to ensure content projects are cohesive and properly reflect brand voice, messaging, and target audiences.
  • Translate technical information into simple, persuasive, and helpful content.
  • Support internal and business communications where needed.
