The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the oldest student association in Canada and has been a central student organization at Queen's since its founding in 1858. Today, the AMS acts as a service, advocacy, and governing body on behalf of all students enrolled in AMS-affiliated programs at Queen's University. The AMS is a not-for-profit entity created by the Society to ensure its continuing financial viability by overseeing the management of its services and associated financial affairs. It is bound by the By-laws and corporate philosophy of our Mission and Operating statements as set out in the AMS Constitution. In addition to providing wage-based service staff positions for students wanting employment, the AMS seeks to support the Society's broader objectives through the provisioning of a high quality, relevant range of student funded services, that provide a wide range of employment opportunities and meaningful out-of-classroom learning and skill acquisition experiences for students. Marketing Deputy | Volunteer Honorarium Term: August 5 - April 30 Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week Job Description: The Social Issues Commission (SIC) seeks to facilitate dialogue, education, and engagement on all matters related to equity, identity, and anti-oppression. The Marketing Deputy assists the Social Issue Commissioners (External and Internal) with social media and marketing tasks. This role involves collaborating with the AMS Media Centre, SIC leads, and committees to create and implement marketing plans for SIC campaigns, ensuring they align with SIC brand guidelines. Job Competencies: · Communication · Organization · Ownership · Cultural Sensitivity · Collaboration · Creativity Job Duties: · Create a timeline for major social media campaigns reflecting the Social Issues Commission Goal Plan and Budget Plan. · Support boothing/outreach activities, as needed. · Create social media content ranging from graphics to video/reels using platforms (e.g. Canva) · Use internal and external platforms for marketing campaigns/projects (e.g. AMS Newsletter, flyer distributions) · Ensure brand consistency of Social Issues Commission · Report to SIC External for student-facing programming (i.e. educational and social programming) · Report to SIC Internal for hiring, training, and policy work (i.e. amplifying voice at Equity Townhall) · Ensure all marketing materials abide by the Media Centre Visual Identity Standards · Attend all training sessions to become familiar with the department and adhere to the general operations of the department · Respect and adhere to all company policies, procedures and ethical standards · Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and attentively · Maintain timely communication with direct supervisor · Attend and fully participate in all in person and virtual meetings · Strive to foster a warm, comfortable and respectful atmosphere for all · Always serve as a representative of the AMS and its mission statement · Complete other job duties as assigned Job Requirements: · Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills.
