Description

MARKETING DIRECTOR – EVENTS & PUBLISHING

As Marketing Director, you will set the vision, strategy, and execution for marketing across our events and publishing portfolio — spanning international conferences, awards, webinars, summits, and digital media platforms.
You’ll be responsible for driving brand growth, audience engagement, and commercial success by delivering multi-channel campaigns that attract delegates, sponsors, advertisers, and readers. Acting as the strategic lead for marketing, you’ll oversee planning, budgets, data-led insights, and team performance to ensure all activity supports revenue objectives and strengthens our position as a global leader in B2B media and events.
This is a hands-on, senior leadership role where you’ll be expected to combine strategic thinking with operational delivery — shaping campaigns while also inspiring and guiding your team to execute at pace.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the end-to-end marketing strategy across events, publications, and digital platforms.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and optimisation of integrated campaigns (email, SEO, PPC, social media, content marketing, partnerships).
  • Drive audience acquisition and retention, with a focus on senior decision-makers and international markets.
  • Partner with sales, editorial, and event directors to align marketing with commercial and editorial goals.
  • Manage and mentor a growing marketing team, ensuring efficient use of budgets, resources, and timelines.
  • Oversee the development and optimisation of websites, content hubs, and digital platforms.
  • Use data and analytics to measure performance, report results, and refine strategy for maximum ROI.
  • Act as a brand guardian, ensuring consistency and quality across all marketing outputs.
  • Represent marketing at a senior level internally and externally, building strong relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, and partners.
  • Stay ahead of industry and digital trends, adopting innovative approaches to audience engagement.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have proven experience leading marketing in events, publishing, or B2B media.
  • Bring strong commercial acumen — with a track record of driving delegate registrations, subscriptions, sponsorships, or advertising revenue.
  • Are highly skilled in digital marketing, with knowledge of tools such as Adestra/HubSpot, Google Analytics, SEO, PPC, paid social, and content platforms.
  • Can balance strategic leadership with operational execution, managing both big-picture planning and day-to-day delivery.
  • Know how to use data and insight to inform decisions, segment audiences, and optimise campaigns.
  • Are confident managing budgets, timelines, agencies, and cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate with impact and can build strong relationships at senior levels.
  • Are open to occasional UK and international travel.
  • Are proactive, innovative, and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
