Job Description The Marketing & Insights Leader provides support to leadership in the planning, coordination and implementation of strategic marketing initiatives that support the Firm and its strategy. The role is responsible for: Marketing strategy and execution thereof; production and distribution of Insights and Thought Leadership linked to strategic priorities; Oversight of digital content and social media platforms; media relations and news services; The Marketing and Insights Leader coordinates with communications professionals across the regions and advises on communications policy across Deloitte Africa. Key responsibilities Marketing & Insights Strategy & Execution Responsible for the overarching marketing and Insights strategy of Deloitte Africa and its execution. Strategy Formulation & Implementation Formulate a comprehensive and integrated strategy for external communications and public relations in support of the Firm. Regularly assess the effectiveness of the business’s communication channels by putting in place measures that will create awareness and momentum as well as test the effectiveness of communication activities in the business. Conduct analyses on audience segmentation, key messages, communications schedules etc. Develop and maintain a thematic-based content archive for the communication team’s reference. Understand Deloitte strategy and priorities to ensure assigned projects are written, edited, and presented in a format that is best suited to engage audiences. Media Relations Develop and maintain strong, sound, and collaborative relationships with media organisations and individual journalists to enable balanced reporting on Deloitte Africa matters. Provide strategic media counsel to leadership on issues that could impact Deloitte’s reputation negatively. Manage end-to-end conversations with media before, during and after key milestones/events through pitching ideas, arranging interviews, and spearheading conversation with key journalists to enhance the media’s understanding of the business. Assist the firm to drive conversations through social media influencers and economic and business analysts to ensure eminence of the Deloitte brand. Develop and supervise day-to-day media operations, including media research and monitoring using Novus to keep abreast of media coverage, which might adversely impact the firm’s reputation and brand position, and in turn respond accordingly. Coordinate and screen requests for interviews with firm and leadership. Manage drafting news releases, pitches, and talking points for interviews to equip leaders to deal with media personnel. Develop and oversee editorial calendars, working closely with other members of the communication team to sync content across channels. Support thought leadership platforms through write up and placement opinion pieces to enhance the firm’s brand positioning relative to competitors. Develop and oversee an editorial calendar for proactive institutional and SME media opportunities (e.g., awards, expert interviews, op-eds) to enhance the firm’s brand position. Manage the process of preparing experts/other spokespersons and staff media interviews (e.g., background material, key messages, media prep/coaching) to empower staff and leaders to engage with the media. Manage the process of writing press releases and statements on Firm issues to ensure consistency in messaging. Seek and develop media opportunities to enhance the reputation Deloitte Africa, to strengthen the brand of the firm. Managing and working closely with Creative team on planning daily/weekly/monthly social content calendar across brand social channels and distribute necessary updates to internal stakeholders. Provide strategic oversight for content and editorial calendars in partnership with Marketing. Brand Positioning Guard the integrity of the brand by ensuring that the products, services, and messages resonate with stakeholders’ expectations and are in line with Global expectations and standards. Position Deloitte Africa as a trusted Partner in the market to strengthen the brand relative to competitors by: Identifying eminence opportunities within the Firm. Identifying and promoting newsworthy stories and topics of interest on the business’s behalf ahead of the curve. Seeking opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising. Maximise brand presence through various media channels such as web, TV & social media. Provide PR support to service lines to increase awareness of Deloitte and its capabilities so at to better position the brand relative to competitors. Provide guidelines on the proper crafting of communication materials that will be published or broadcast to ensure all communication is brand-compliant. Reputation Management Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organisation through monitoring of media channels and in turn define and execute appropriate strategies to address them in a timely fashion. Participate in the Reputation and Crisis Management Steerco to formulate strategies that ensure continued promotion and enhancement of communication activities that in turn and protect and preserve the business’s brand reputation through ensuring the following: crisis management and pre-emptive planning. cultivating an environment of readiness and alertness. maintaining an awareness of company risks and threats. projecting a positive company image to the public.
