QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Masters Degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Health, or related field.
Experience: Five or more years of experience working with AI/AN communities in communications, health promotion, health care services, or public health. Four or more years of experience in health communication and/or health promotion and dissemination. Experience in strategic planning, managing websites and social media as well as using Microsoft Office, graphic design and photo editing software, e-marketing programs, databases, spreadsheets, and content management systems. Experience in project management, team leadership, and supervision of staff.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

  • Familiarity with health and social issues facing AI/ANs and a desire to promote the delivery of appropriate health services, traditional Indian medicine, community services, resources, and informational materials to this population.
  • Knowledge of processes involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating communication activities and programs services.
  • Knowledge of effective communication and dissemination techniques and methods.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends and media practices as they apply to developing and carrying out health and communication projects.
  • Writing print and online communications for multiple channels and tactics (websites, social media, print, brochures, presentations, articles, procedures, and FAQs, etc.).
  • Knowledge of establishing and adhering to content, editorial, graphic design, and brand standards.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills.
  • Experience coordinating and overseeing work of multi-disciplinary staff.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for providing the leadership, strategic planning, and oversight of the marketing and communications efforts conducted by the Seattle Indian Health Board (SIHB) and the Urban Indian Health Institute (UIHI). This position will work closely with SIHB and UIHI leadership to ensure communications initiatives, marketing campaigns, and outreach events and activities are aligned with the organization’s mission and goals. Specifically, the Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for strategic planning and analysis; content and design development; SIHB and UIHI OMH online digital presence (websites and social media channels); outreach (including media relations) and events planning; and internal communications.

KEY JOB DUTIES:

  • Strategy, Planning, and Analysis
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications and marketing strategic plan that advances the goals of the organization, in keeping with organizational and departmental leadership needs and considers the needs of our community members and stakeholders.
  • Lead, develop, implement, and evaluate communications, marketing, and outreach activities to reflect and enhance the quality and integrity of the organization and the range of services and resources provided. Use effective project management principles and tools as well as prioritization to ensure activities are carried out professionally and according to timeline.
  • Determine baseline targets/benchmarks, monitor, and evaluate success metrics for these marketing and communications efforts. Make revisions to the communications strategies and action plans as needed to improve desired outcomes.
