JOB DESCRIPTION

The Marketing & eCommerce Manager position is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Chief Operation Officer. Please note: this is not a remote position and requires a daily, onsite presence at our U-District location.
Position Summary
The Marketing & eCommerce Manager is responsible for University Book Store’s visibility, voice, and brand presence across all customer-facing channels in ways that are consistent with University Book Store’s mission and unique character. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution for marketing on our website, email, paid ads, in-store signage, events, social media, and community collaborations. You’ll oversee a small marketing team, and work closely with Book Store leadership and buyers to help them achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage, plan, and create email campaigns in Klayvio, including managing flows, segments, and improving engagement.
  • Run online paid ads on Google and Meta for various campaign types including Performance, Max, Search, Shopping, Boosting posts and shopping campaigns.
  • Help maintain website content in Shopify including web images, website layout, product collections, and SEO content.
  • Tag products, upload product photos, and coordinate with buying team to manage collections and website merchandising.
  • Monitor analytics in GA4, Meta Business Center, and Klayvio data to optimize ads, web and email content, and spot trends.
  • Oversee social media content produced by student interns. Occasionally create and post content including product promotions, sales, student testimonials, and model photos.
  • Hire, supervise and train student interns to ensure accuracy and brand alignment, and ensure they are learning marketing skills to further their education.
  • Organize and conduct photoshoots, including selecting models, arranging outfits, and capturing photos.
  • Understand, implement, and reinforce University Book Store brand guidelines, voice, and copy style.
  • Assist in preparing creative briefs, strategic marketing plans, post-game analyses, end-of-month report and board reports.
  • Create marketing materials (flyers, signage, in-store displays, email content, and social media posts) using Canva or Adobe, and collaborate with the in-house graphic designer on larger projects.
  • Coordinate with campus and community partners (e.g. Foster’s School, ASUW, RSO groups) for collaborative events.
  • Create promotions in Shopify and ensure all promotions are working correctly using custom tags and customer segmentation. Monitor and report results.
  • Attend weekly Marketing/Buying meetings to align campaigns with product availability and buyer priorities.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Desirable candidates will display working knowledge in the following areas: marketing strategies, SEM/SEO, campaign management, market research and analysis, CRM email building software, ecommerce CMS, Google Ads, Canva, Adobe Creative, and team leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Business, or related field required. Additional education in marketing, especially digital marketing, strongly preferred.
  • Recent professional experience in marketing required.
  • Supervisory experience a plus.
  • Previous copywriting experience a plus.
  • Photography and/or basic photo editing skills a plus.
  • Multi-lingual a plus.
  • Candidates must possess:
  • Strong understanding of digital advertising, SEO/SEM, and analytics.
  • Excellent copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and content calendars.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and work independently when needed.

Wage and Benefits
The salary for this position begins at $77,968.80 Salary DOE. Benefits include: subsidized ORCA pass, merchandise discount, and holiday pay. Additional benefits once hours requirements are met include medical, dental and disability insurance; vacation, and sick pay; and 401k retirement plan with employer match.
