Shelmerdine Garden Centre is Manitoba’s premier lifestyle destination, offering a retail experience that blends fashion, housewares, plants, garden essentials, and seasonal products. Often referred to as “my happy place” by customers, Shelmerdine is known for its curated selection and immersive shopping experience.

This role will support both Geller’s Landscaping and Shelmerdine Garden Centre, with a combined staff of 160 during peak times; capturing and showcasing our unique brands through compelling media content, website management, and digital marketing strategies.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are looking for a Marketing and Media Manager who will report to the Chief of Marketing & People. This person would ideally have exceptional video, photography, and digital marketing skills to elevate our brands. This role is hands-on, blending storytelling, email marketing, and social media strategy across two businesses.
More than just landscapes and products, we want someone who captures the authenticity of the people behind them, our craftspeople, clients, and team. You’ll be working closely with people daily, turning real moments into compelling content.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions to capture content.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends if required for event coverage or project schedules.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

Photography & Videography Production (30%)• Capture and edit high-quality video and photography, including drone footage.

  • Maintain an organized library of media assets for marketing use.
  • Produce polished, engaging content for websites, social media, and marketing campaigns.
  • Capture Shelmerdine’s seasonal displays, products, and in-store experiences.

Social Media & Digital Marketing (30%)• Execute content calendars for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and TikTok.

  • Track analytics and optimize content performance.
  • Design marketing materials, presentations, and branded visuals.
  • Highlight Geller’s craftsmanship and Shelmerdine’s unique retail experience.

Marketing Analysis & Brand Development (20%)• Conduct market research, and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities for both Geller’s and Shelmerdine.

  • Collaborate on data-driven marketing strategies that align with business objectives and seasonal trends.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and identify areas for improvement.

Website & SEO Management (10%)• Update company websites using Wix/Wordepress.

  • Ensure websites are optimized for SEO, including keyword research, on-page optimization, and meta descriptions.
  • Monitor website performance, user engagement, and implement improvements.
  • Ensure brand consistency across both websites.

Support & Coordination (10%)• Visit project sites and retail locations to document progress and success stories.

  • Assist in event coverage and promotional campaigns.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and team members to ensure brand consistency.
