The University of Wolverhampton is a leading modern university with a tradition of providing opportunity and academic excellence dating back nearly 200 years. The University’s ambition is to be a progressive and influential sector leader, championing diversity, growth, and creating life chances for all while enhancing economic impact and accelerating ambition across the entire University community.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a creative communicator who enjoys connecting people, telling stories, and trying new ideas?
Do you believe in the power of innovation, community and inclusion?
We’re looking for a confident and proactive Marketing Officer to help promote UoWSP and engage our community of over 100 science, technology and creative businesses. In this role, you’ll bring our story to life, helping us attract new tenants and users of the conferencing facilities by fostering an inclusive and vibrant environment where collaboration and knowledge-sharing thrive.
You will be joining a small, friendly team at UoWSP in this hands-on, outward facing role. The role includes creating engaging content, newsletters, press releases and other marketing materials that speak to diverse audiences and tell our story, helping to grow our online presence, encourage knowledge sharing and celebrating tenant successes.
We thrive on innovation so are looking to employ someone who can help us try new marketing approaches and platforms. Community building, both internal and external, is central to what we do and is key to our strategy going forward, including a fresh approach to marketing of events and conference facilities.
Previous experience working in a similar sector in marketing, communications or events would be a big bonus – but your attitude and approach are just as important. Some of the key attributes we are looking for include confidence in using digital tools (social media, email, websites), creativity, strong people skills, an awareness of data protection legislation and good digital practice.
From time-to-time it may be necessary to attend external events and/or work outside of normal office hours, involving travel away from UoWSP, both within the West Midlands region and, very occasionally, elsewhere in the UK.
For informal enquiries please contact Nigel Babb, Commercial Director (nigel.babb@wlv.ac.uk, 07974 088475).
Interviews are planned to be held on: week commencing 22nd September 2025
